Hey, that is great news about the Army and AUC! Are they telling you that you should apply for FAP, or some other route? I am considering going back in the service after med school, too, but have heard different things about the possibilities if you are a USIMG. Any word would be welcome...

i'm in PGY-1 year of residency, and the air force is trying to recruit us with a $50,000 signing bonus going towards loan repayment, and $2000 stipend/month for 3 years of residency, no obligations while in training. this is for the reserves. you basically owe them 9 years of time in the reserves (which is one weekend a month, and 2 weeks out of the year). it adds up to being around $110,000 for 360 days total, added up over 9 years. i don't know if that's a good deal or not, i guess if you like the airforce, maybe so. they didn't care that i was foreign training, as long as you're ecfmg certified.

Exactly, as long as you're ECFMG, they will take you. Basically they are offering me a backdoor route to the HPSP. Where as I take loans and pay for school, but then in 4th year, talk to a AMEDD recruiter (I have a LTC who would be the one to help me) and apply for military residency. They would then offer to pay back loans up to a certain amount, and you would owe 1 for 1 after residency. Not a horrible deal.
