Rumor's on the pipeline is that both Lic.Obama and McCain have approached Collin Powell too. We will see what happens.

In all honesty,
I'm still waiting for Obama's policies to be uttered by his mouth. I just hear political rhetoric from him like any other tenured (for 2 years) senator. We should ask these questions, not who he will select as VP. The VP is only important if the president were to die (case in point Kennedy and Johnson). But what is important is what direction does the person running for office want to do for the country (and not just make speeches critizing current policy) and where to take it. How would he do things different. What changes immediately and longitudinally are being planned. I suspect his advisors haven't told him what he stands for and what his policy platform will be.

He could never run as a Republican as he holds positions directly opposed to the base. For example on abortion rights (pro choice)and not abstinence only programs, pro-affirmative action, pro sensible gun control, and he defers on many other social issues. He also was opposed to invading Iraq and said he tried to convince Bush not to do it. He was also quoted in England as saying , the Neocons within the Bush administration as "f**ing crazies". He's was also against the military tribunals Bush/Mccain want and believes the alterations and the abandonment of the Geneva Conventions in this regard. Thus if you utilize the Geneva Conventions you can't torture, which McCain and Bush are against the utilizing the conventions. They also are against utilizing the Army field manual in this case which also prevents torture. Powell may have served in the Bush admin but he had very different views and is why he left.
