fender bender incident

i hit a lady or rear ended her going about 1mph. her car has a 6" long mark of paint from my car but no paint came off her car. if it is just a fender bender, how much would my insurance rate increase?

also...i did try to go outside of insurance but she was trying to hustle me saying to give her 500 bucks at least..so id rather just go through insurance

500 bucks was cheap dude! What is your deductible? probably at least $300 AND its gonna ding against your insurance...the bumper is going to have to be repainted at the very least and then they have to blend that in with the back end of the car....

sometimes if you tell the place that's doing the work youre not going through insurence, they'll cut the price. they often raise it when they know insurence is paying. its a complete scam.

Sometimes it is good to make deal and get it out of the way.
Last year, when my daughter decided to bump a few parked cars, I had to make some identical moves. Believe me, it will be much better to go the way you decided.
Just don't see the pealing paint off the car, just see the headache of a rising insurance premium in the long run.

Well, it looks pretty obvious, she is looking to make an easy $500.00 off your spaceout. The paint job alone may run into 500.00 for a good job, unless she wants to do a cheap Maaco job for 259.00 and it will peel off in a year. Not to mention a possible a transmission differential problem that can run into well over $1,000.00, and believe me, it can happen. $500.00, sounds reasonable, but as Steph said, maybe if you tell the place that's doing the work youre not going through insurence, they'll cut the price. MAYBE NOT, but you won't loose anything by asking. If it was only residues of your paint, it may come off with rubbing compund, provided there is no scratch on the bumper surface.

How do I know about this stuff? My father had a car repair shop for 35 years and I was part of his cheap labor.

Totally agree with GM. This is what Mr Orthonut does (the car fixing, not the car hitting)
