A boycott will not accomplish a thing other than affecting the ATHLETES. Olympic games are for the athletes not politicians. I care about the athletes not the politicians reason why I am so vocal against any boycott, even with the fact that the Olympics has become a giant business enterprise, but that is another subject of debate. The Olympics provide the athletes the benefit of performing against the best of the World. You may say, well what about the world championships in different disciplines? It's not the same as the world championships, that is nice too, but it does not compare with the Olympics, the feeling is not the same. Let the athletes compete and let the politicos stay out of it, its very simple.

Even if people did boycott the Olympics it could have some serious repercussions because China has become an extremely important part of the world economy. China is key to the US, in fact, if it was not for the Chinese, the credit crunch would have led to a number of bank failures and would have resulted in a Depression. The large US banks were bailed out by Chinese and other foreign governments not the US Treasury.

No wonder Republicans love China so much, and how they so despise Cuba.

The Democrats are actually on the same page as the Republicans regarding China. In fact, the last administration, Clinton had strong connections with the Asian giant.

Some of the fuss stirred up by European leaders, Obama and Clinton, are largely just publicity ploys.

Obama in one of his campaign speeches mentioned something about the "center of gravity" moving to Asia, it was kind of a indirect way of saying the US is losing its economic clout.

Increasingly it is rather odd that the world's richest country, its economic fate is now controlled by a nation that is still a third world country. Its only a matter of time before the Chinese stop this charade as well.
