Wow?! yes you are perceiving it the WRONG way!!!! How did you come up with that. Personally I feel there are a million other things people can over crowd our prisons with besides people who dog fight. I know several athletes and the minute they break ANY, major or minor, law that most peopel skate by with the law loves to make an example out of them (note: I do believe that if you do the crime then the punishment should fit it). With that said I think 28 months was unfair. I just see tax dollars bieng better spent locking up rapists, murders, and gangsters who break the law and so forth.
As far as the biased judicial system I recently read an article about the barbie bandits (not pertaining to dog fighting) where one of the girls was given 10 years probation for robbery...come on now, not biased? not a horrible system? Anyways my friend, ethnicity had nothing to do with it. I hope you didn't make the correlation due to my disagreement with vick's sentence and my avatar. Quote:

"millions gamble in the casinos....wo why is Vick in Jail"
Easy to answer...Vick pleaded guilty to one count of "conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture" in a plea agreement filed in U.S. District Court in Richmond. When asked if he understood the charges he said "Yes". The kind of gambling we see in LEGAL casinos is preceisely that, LEGAL gambling. Dog fiighting is ILLEGAL. You see the difference? I don't make the laws, I just repect them and follow them, same as Vick should have, he broke them, he is in jail under Fed. guidelines. You think it's unfair, your opinion, not the facts of the case, which is what really matters. Neither you or I can change that. Besides, in my original post reply to this thread I explained why you don't get probation at the Federal level, State level is a different scenario, and Vick may face State charges and still that is NOT double jeopardy due to the duality of the Federal-State system and which State laws he broke since he has not responded to State charges ...yet. Millions of animals get slaughter every day...I am not getting into a circular argument on the morals of that and eating animals, etc. Good luck...Max Quote:

(note: I do believe that if you do the crime then the punishment should fit it). "With that said I think 28 months was unfair."
The judge applied his criteria using sentencing guidelines, all Federal judges do, so under such guidelines, the judge imposed 28 months as he saw the punishment fit it. This is what happened during the hearing: Vick pleaded guilty to one count of "conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture" in a plea agreement filed in U.S. District Court in Richmond. During the hearing, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson asked Vick if he understood the charge. Vick responded, "Yes sir." The judge reminded Vick that he does not have to accept the deal's recommended sentence of 12 to 18 months. "I place a lot of weight on the government's recommendations but I am not bound by that," Hudson said. "The decision is mine." He was asked again if he understood that, and Vick said.."Yes" That seals the deal, he made bad choices, broke the law, said he understood what could happen to him and went on to plea guilty, now he is playing prison foootball, very simple, his problem now. As for the Barbie bandits, they were sentenced at State level, NOT Federal. I explained why you get minimum jail time at the FEDERAL level in my original post. State's have different sentencing guidelines and probation figures among them in almost all States, not at the Federal level. Max Quote:

Mike Vick deserved to go to jail, but the question is how long did he deserve it? I guess the biggest factor was the cruelty and the methods that the animals were killed in.

Mr. Vick doesn't seem to be publicly complaining about his sentence. Why should anyone else complain? I can see this being a good turning point in his life: learning that prison is somewhere he doesn't want to be. Considering what he has going for him on the outside odds are he will do just fine.

Vick must have not been a good street OG. Yeah, he forgot to feed the dog...to himself and pose, that is. Such a great meat! Anyway, that's a lesson to learn. Please fight your roosters, your chicken in the kitchen and don't let the dogs out.
