john ritters wife suing?

ok..this type of stuff is what drives me crazy. on one side i absolutely hate every single patient that walks in the ER basically gets a cat scan on the other hand you have people suing for a missed aortic aneurysm which is a hard diagnosis to make how it presents. so john ritters wife is suing for 67 million dollars for a missed aortic aneurysm...man i think i will start cat scanning everyone who has gerd

Why would his ex-wife be suing, for the kids? Any how here is the AP story about it. It seems that the doctor didn't make a mistake.

doesn't matter if they made a mistake or not, the hospital already settled for 14million to keep publicity down after all the aneurysm didn't kill john ritter those evil bastards at the hospital and those doctors who spend decades of their lives just learning how tomisdiagnose and kill people on purpose did......now she is going after the doctors for 67million

It is always about the money… The hospital should have stood behind the doctors instead of leaving them out on a limb. I’m no doctor yet but that news article made a strong case for the doctors.

Welcome to big business. First rule of private practice, don´t trust the hospital -- 99% of the time they will leave you in a lurch and BBQ your innards to save their own skin. Second rule, if the hospital is owned by nuns, don´t believe the garbage that spews from their mouths.

Well...you really can't blame his wife if she honestly believe her husband could be alive today if they done it right.

keep in mind this was 5 years ago. in the process of considering suit im sure she and her lawyer had time to learn about DAA. This is a very difficult thing to assess from the cold distance of days later let alone years. Decision making in the ED is a real challenge and being "right" 100% simply will not happen. The question is under the circumstances should these docs have acted as they did by the standards of what is reasonable. Very difficult. Also note you need to prove harm. That is if the pt was so far gone even the correct dx and tx wouldnt have saved him then the suit has no merit. So you have two thihngs to demonstrate (or protect) and then keep in mind how juries (and lay people) see things--- this is very difficult.

Two doctors who treated John Ritter have been cleared of negligence in a lawsuit arising from his death, The Associated Press reports.

the judgement was 9-3 in favor of the defence. Civil cases do not have to be unanimous. The suit was for 67M.
