the only time i pulled all nighters were the nights where i had a really bad case of insomnia. when in bed not getting any sleep just watching the hours tick like minutes, i figured i might as well do something productive. either way i was going to be extremely exhausted/tired for the next morning's exam.

I always thought we consolidate memory during REM sleep, and the only way to maximize that sleep is to do it in large blocks. Since neuro class, I have ceased taking naps and try to get all sleep in large chunks. Granted, we have to stay up all night on call, then I take a nap when I get home and then go to bed early, so I can get a larger night's sleep that night and maximize REM.
