There are a lot of IMGs that practice medicine, I don't think you should be down on yourself because of your friends. I have friends who also went to US schools, I don't talk to them because a few snickered about me going overseas. So I pretend like they don't exist. If the Australian dollar surpasses the US dollar which I am certain will be really soon, I will feel so vindicated.

I had a depression problem after my 1st trip home between 1st and 2nd semester. The school counselor really helped me a lot during the time until the medication started working for me. Now that I think about it I was most likely borderline for years and the stress of medical school tipped me over the edge. I was also diagnosed with ADD when I was in my 1st semester. So I had a lot to deal with those few months.
You can beat this just get some help, don't be afraid to ask for help there are many others out there with the same problems. It doesn't matter what your friends are doing it only matters what you are doing today and what you need to do tomorrow. Good luck

Look into getting some help from student support services, but really if you friends are knocking you down for going to the Caribbean, they are not your friends. You can always find new friends at medical school.
Since becoming a born again, there is only one person that I care what he thinks about me, and his name is Christ. Last edited by GeorgeMD2B : 12-04-2007 at 09:18 PM. |
