Believing doctors/medical students are empathetic, compassionate, kind and caring may be just that; a belief.

During the peri-delivery period, my colleagues were glad to trade/switch shifts, at times with short notice. One day you're wife may be expecting and you will need some understanding and kindness from your colleagues, and the shoe will be on your foot. Should your colleagues tell you to piss off and say as a doctor you should not put yourself into such a situation?

You guys have problems with a women having an extra 45 minutes to pump milk for her 4 months baby? You folks need to clean your soul.

For God sakes, she has a 4 months old baby.Have you ever held a baby in your arms?Do you know what it takes to care for a baby?Do you know how much physical and mental stress a mother has to go through during the first 3 years of a baby's life?

Please be humane!!
Please be normal!!
A woman is a 'fellow human', she is a mom, sister, wife, friend etc etc.She is not the enemy here! Doesn't a women expect a fair deal while working, especially when she has a 4 months old tot?

Sorry sir, I cannot do your CPR, my 4 month old is hungry.
I gave my opinion.
Women do not belong in fox holes, aboard naval vessils, or any place else where their mommy instincts interfere with their duties.
sorry this lady places her lactation above the needs of the other examinees.
special accomodations are silly pandering.

I am sick of these women who think they can do it all : supercareer and supermom all at once.
Who sufferes?
Their coworkers who must accomodate their needs
Their patients/clients who get second rate service
Most of all, their children who get a part time mother.

the only thing that doesn't suffer is the woman's ego, totally oblivious that they are falling short on all tasks.
that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. IT's also my final word on the subject. OUT

1)She did not say she cant do CPR- its a figment of your imagination.
2)Women have proved themselves at all hospital positions in the US- Seems you are jealous of women.
3)Special accomodations? A man cannot be a mother, because God made a woman to be a mom.A working Mom, has to be given facilities during maternity and when she is lactating- Thats called normal workplace culture in the civilized work.Seems you dont like to be fair and are against rights being given to workers for their added responsibilities.
4)Her lactating needs DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH OTHER EXAMINEES.Seems you made up your mind to hate women, you have serious issues with women here.
5)Women are Supermoms and have Supercareers! and they have done that, even though there is so much discrimination against them.If the playing fields were LEVEL, there is no end to what they can accomplish!

JHarris or whatever you name is, you need some real help towards your pathological hatred towards women.Usually persons with similar mental profile also have hatred towards people of other races, other religion etc, etc.You need help.Your posts represent you.Wake up before its too late, and you end up harming someone or yourself!

I am sorry you feel the need to lash out. Sometimes the truth hurts.
I know one thing for sure, when some broad wants to change call nights with me because she is pregnant or whatever, I will tell her to forget it. She gets paid the same as me and she can find alternate arrangements or pay me for my troubles.

Say what you want, I believe you are in denial of the obvious : You are paid to do a job. As long as your lactation or pregnancy issues don't interfere with your job, go right ahead, but the momemt you want special accomodations like your own breastfeeding time or room, be prepared for me to want my own room to watch ESPN or nap or whatever.
Also, I am sure the children these women are having do mind the fact that their mothers place career ahead of them. children need a mother, even one as easily agitated as yourself

now that's my last word on it. gotta go see a man about a horse

Ok well a "tampon that goes in the bra" shows me that you're definitely not a doctor - nor have you ever even seen a woman's anatomy.

however the amount of time that is given for breaks - an hour - is more than enough time over the course of the day to express milk- she could easily express in the morning before the exam, at lunch (and seriously, unless she is expressing a couple of gallons, 30 minutes is more than enough time to express using an electric pump) and then after the exam. That leaves her 30 minutes to eat and use the facilities. By the time the child is 4 months she is not feeding every 2 hours (more like 4) so the mom shouldn't necessarily have let down...

and yes, i do know what it takes to take care of a baby and have held a babyand honestly if you can't balance having children and your career, then you will have to choose! There are many, many, many women out there that DO balance- why is she so special??

And while i certainly don't agree with the sentiments that jharris has stated (though, really you are not going to have to worry about exchanging call with anyone anytime soon, judging by your posts in other threads) i certainly don't think its a step in the right direction...we want to be treated equally, yet here is someone who is saying ...give me a break because i'm a woman!! She does me, as a woman in medicine, no service...
