in residency i treated a guy who had been bit by his pet cobra. what a dork. they flew him in by chopper, on a vent, 4 pressors at max dose, and his BP was still soemthing like 40/10. to make matters worse, the idiot had 4 of them, and the anti-venin is species specific. the first vial (for king cobra)we got did nothing. he went downhill. we had to fly in stuff from memphis, and had stuff coming form a couple other places when we gave the memphis vial, which was for speactacled cobra, to him. amazing recovery. in fairly little time he was off pressors and off the vent. if it hadnt worked, he would have never lasted for the other vials. his girlfriend was screaming at him that he had to sell all his snakes. last i heard, the idiot still owns the snakes, dumped the chcik. it was an interesting change of pace from our usual copperhead/rattlesnake bites.

Apparently snakes are advised by their veterinarians not to drink milk as it usually doesn't agree with them, causing death in some instances. A few foolish individuals have ignored this advice when faced with extreme thirst.

Insult snakes?
My good friend! Where have you seen or heard me insulting the snakes? I respect and yes fear these magnificent creatures. I just think that little babies and the world's most fearsome preditors don't really mix together very well. I'd like to see Lord V send a few after the degenerates who put this baby in front of a cobra. BTW I'm re-directing the you've said for me to go after You
