Shelling out 200K for medical school in the long run is nothing, its one of the most solid educational investments you can make. Only Dental school has similar returns on investment. As far as business and law, you need to go to a top school to get a good return on investment, people who get into those high level Ibanking and Law jobs went to Wharton, Harvard, Columbia for the most part. Medicine is a more level field where one third of American physicians received their education overseas.

I don't think so. The people who go to school in their country of origin went there because that is where they are from. People who go to school in the Caribbean are generally Americans who couldn't get into school in the states. G

I am just telling you, I go to an Australian school, and like many other North Americans in Oz, most PDs can pretty much figure out we went to Australia because we did not make it in the States. I talked to people at my school who matched and most went to predominantly IMG friendly residencies. I think a top 3 Caribbean program in this respect is as good as most Australian, Irish, and British programs. In most countries its not that hard to become a doctor. Australian medical schools are generally a lot easier to get into than most US schools even for locals.

Are we talking about US citizens who go overseas to get a medical education or foreign doctors in general?
If the former, yes, 99% probably the reason a US citizen went overseas to get a medical education is most likely because they did not get into a US school. Unless it's like the rare exception where one is invited to study a top university somewhere. If the latter, then basically what Teratos said. And yeah, PDs if they see you went to a US reject friendly country and you are a US citizen or resident, they can put 2 and 2 together fairly quickly.
