Robin Williams plan would not work, I don't think world peace is going to become a reality any time soon. In fact, the opposite might be happening, look at the increasingly multipolar and competitive world that exists today, dwindling natural resources, etc.
I wonder if Robin Williams was making a joke, if so, its not funny. He makes a lot of foolish assumptions. USA is the cause of all the war in the world??? I think there are about 35 armed conflicts around the world that do not even involve the US directly or indirectly. Last edited by WendyMBBS : 01-25-2008 at 06:42 PM. |

As a matter of fact, I do think Mr. Williams was trying to be funny. It's basically what he does. (Well, sort of.) He's, um, embellishing to make a point, y'know?

This was not started by Robin Williams. After running a simple Google search for "Robin Williams plan for world peace", up popped:
Urban Legends Reference Pages: Robin Williams' Peace Plan http://commonsenselogic.blogspot.com...n-is-urban.htm Robin Williams' peace plan-Fiction! Regardless of this, I would be interested in why people think that withdrawing all US troops from overseas would lead to world peace (considering that the US foots the majority of Europe's defense bill, to name one example). But what do I know about the political realm? I didn't graduate from Julliard...

I agree with bring all the troops home. I served in the Army in Korea at Camp Castle which is about 15 Km from the DMZ and I would hear repeatedly "Yankee go home" while in town shopping.
Most of the foreign countries economies would collapse if all the troops were pulled out. |
