info from this forum

having just joined this forum to get info on foreign med school options, i will note that it's good to know that the nursing profession is not the only one that "eats it's young". many responses are so negative and pure smart___- that it detracts from the very school the want to recommend. even the moderators are condescending. i realize this is an outlet for frustrated people, but it makes it worse when you add to that frustration instead of just offering information. that's might take on what this has been worth in decision making for me (with the exception of a few helpful hints that i personnallly recongized and thanked). just remember most of you were searching one day and would have appreciated a helping hand and not stomped fingers!!! just for the record, i believe most people that look into or chose foreign medical schools, on-line courses, etc., reach have their own personal reasons...maybe they are not just looking for the shortcuts, easy-way out, a diploma mill...just prehaps they have motives of time, family, economics, experience, intuition or even a calling in that direction....it's a personal decisiion and opinions are ok, but knowledge and experience are more helpful...i believe most prospective students have enough sense to make the correct decision for themselves given the facts and opportunity. thanks to all who helped. if i get concrete info or leads i will continue to pass along for others to check out. discouraged, but not deterred.....still wanahaveitall.......

you do get the info you need with some sarcasm and comic relief once in a while. most people who begin searching "alternative" ways to finish school need a cold realization that anything short of the full monty in med school is not likely to result in the desired results. as for "personal reasons" it is irrelevant, we all have sob stories about the system disenfranchising us for being balck, white etc, having to work eight jobs to support 10 kids while walking uphill in the snow to buy groceries... guess what licensing boards don't care.. all they look at is their own burocratic bubble.

online classes maybe the future but its not now nor will it be for foreign schools for quite a while. look up the online schools, they have been open for quite a while with no verified practicing grads from the online program. the majority of people that get their degrees from these places have turned out to be chiros, pods, nutritionists, dentists, etc that just want the MD for marketing to make themselves sound better but have no intention on actually using it. more power to the decision process just go in knowing all angles.

BTW-trust me on this, if you have financial, family, economic issues they will get intensified during the 4 year hell that is med school. best thing to do is put life on hold, figure out a way to make all those things go in limbo for 4 years and do it right. and as for intuition, gut instinct etc to determine a degree you will carry the rest of your life is just silly..this should be the most objective choice of your life not one based on what a pretty website a school has.

Outside of continually asking for information on random threads about a school in the wrong forum, I think most people responded very genuinely to your questions regarding a questionable program that very well might just suck up your time and money and leave you nowhere.
