The US is already a police state. Nuclear powers - Japan has had nuc's since the 60's as has South Korea and Australia. So they all have a ready available supply of yellow cake and core waste that could be refined (easily) to weapons grade U238, U235 and plutonium very easily. There is no need to develop much technology once you have the raw material, as that the old encyclopedia Britannica's had in the 50's the latest drawings by Edward Teller on bomb design. (A mistake the US government has attempted to hid once it was found out in the 70's).

North Korea and Iran are the big worries. Australia and Japan have nuclear capability, they don't possess weapons at this very moment, but might in the near future.
World Peace???!!! Yeah whatever, there is a lot of animosity between different races, religions, political groups, nations that is building up. Combined with new power blocs like the EU and ASEAN, and the breakup of the UN, World War III is more of a question of when than if.

Ok so after the oil/energy wars - we can put the 21st century down for a major world war? When - some would say the opening shots have already been fired.

Oh, I'm sure we'll have one within the century. Too many armed crazies, and I'm not excluding us from the equation.

What constitutes a true World War though... there's a question.

What is a world war? - Fought on several large land masses (formally known as continents) and at sea with many countries involved. Allies bound together by treaties - So right now the US has fronts in Asia minor, Asia and they have attacked our mainland and several places in Europe (London, Madrid and Germany). Generally wars cause restrictions in travel (TSA). We have the following countries with troops in the field US, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Turkey, several other former soviet bloc countries, Nato with the exception of France & Germany, Spain was in the war until their trains were attacked and they dropped out the next day. So what do you think? By the way - like your blog Ishie.

It will not be a true World War until France surrenders!
