OK, I'm going to set up a Quake 2 server tonight. I'm downloading a few maps and the admin tools. A couple of reasons I pick Quake 2. A lot of people have it, or have access to it. It doesn't need a heck of a lot of bandwidth, so even people on the islands should be able to run it easily, and I have run a Quake 2 server before, so I kind of know what I'm doing.

So, load or download Quake 2. Upgrade to version 3.20 (the latest version). Get your skins ready. It will be a password protected server, and I will post the password here. That will ensure it truly is a VMD gaming server.

I will post the IP soon.

Go here for map downloads. I really like "Dakyne3", "Dakyne4". Any requests, let me know.

No, standard quake 2. With the hyperblasters and BFG taken out. I hate those. Hyperblasters lag the game and BFGs are just plain silly. I'll leave the server up 24/7 once it is running. Gimme a day or so. G

Yeah, CTF vs DM in Quake 2. Also there was a mod where you got the one-shot guns which replaced all the standard issue weapons and low grav.

There was one map that had 2 towers on each end with a giant hole in the middle for CTF. I'm certain it was Quake 2. Unless it was Quake, but I don't think so.

Also, I wanna see micro on that server. I think he's a camper and I like shooting campers. w00t!

DM is probably better. I bet people will come and go pretty regularly. DM is just a nice FFA, without having to think too much. I can do pretty much anything people want. I can add any maps people suggest. I've almost got everything set up. Just fine-tuning my server settings. Also trying to get a good map rotation with 5 or 6 good maps. I hope everyone is getting Q2 loaded up. I'm thinking I should have it up by this evening. Tomorrow evening at the latest. G
