    The answer is A. Fluoxetine.

A number of placebo-controlled, double-blind trials have demonstrated the effectiveness of a variety of antidepressants in the treatment of bulimia nervosa. Fluoxetine has FDA approval for this indication. The other agents are not used for treating bulimia.

Well cant say if this is the most effective way to get over this problem as I have been witnessing a friend of mine who also happens to suffer from this disorder and probably everything has been tried on him but without any positive result! So wonder what can be ultimately done to make him overcome this problem!

Psychotherapy and cognitive therapy would be management of choice - these are frequently combined with SSRIs

The treatment for Bulimia nervosa is a combination of anti depressants(SSRIs are first line therapy) and psychotherapy(behavior modification). These patients are usually easier to treat than anorexics because they agree that there is a problem and it can be helped. It happens to be more common in females. A typical case is a young lady with low self esteem and OCD who goes on regular food binges, and then induces vomiting by stimulating the pharynx with her fist. These patients usually have erosion of the enamel and parotid enlargment. The body weight however is adequate
