Lightbulb Options...

I am a US citizen and am wondering what options I have for foreign medical schools, if I want to practice back in the US. I have done plenty of searches and have found that carribean schools (SGU, Ross, SABA, AUG) are the best alternative to US med schools and that it is fairly painless in getting back to the US to practice, but have not come across many other schools outside of the carribean. What other school options do I have? Are there any schools outside of the carribean that are comparable to US schools? Will I be able to come back to the US and practice?

Mexico, European schools(eg Ireland), Australia, Israel just to name a few. Most of these don't have 3rd year clinicals in the US though. That's one of the better upside to the Caribbean schools.

BTW, its AUC not AUG.

Seems like you'd have VISA issues when applying for a residency. You'd need to find a program which would sponsor h1b or j1 visas. And if u wanted to stay in the US... then you'd definitely want the H1B visa. I'm not an expert on the visas so i'm not much help.

There are the schools in Oz, why not have a look through at the clinical section for each uni, im sure you will find something.
Im also guessing that you are looking at 4 year courses, if that is the case, you will most probably be looking at poland, take a look

Thumbs up

Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine Is thought to be the best school in poland for international students, students at other polish schools say so, and is that in my personal opinion also. (However people disagree - always happens on here )

Flinders University SOM, University of NSW SOM and the University of Sydney SOM are the best three medical schools in Aus, in my personal opinion in no particular order, however if you ask in the 'Australian medical schools' section on VMD, about the schools in Aus, im sure you will be pointed in the right direction with regards quality and admissions,

Good luck!

There is also the international program at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. There basic sciences are all taught in English and the program focuses on USMLE prep. The biggest advantage I see to their program is that you graduate bilingual in Spanish and English which will be an increasing advantage as a US doctor as the Spanish speaking population increases.

Just so you know I talked to them, but I have already applied elsewhere so I wont be at UAG. Their program sounds pretty cool though.
