Advice - Older Foreign Aspiring Doctor

Hi everyone,

This website and forum is very helpful to anyone aspiring to be in medicine. I am glad that I found this site while fishing for information on web for older people wanting to get into medicine.

Here is my situation:
Age=35
Bachelors and Masters degree from India in Computer Science
Working for 11 years, of which 6+ in USA = got my Green card 11 months ago ... and now my heart just wants to be a doctor.

My doubts...
1. Am I too old to even consider this?
2. Do I only need pre-req courses or more as I do not have a degree from US?
3. What are my chances of getting into a US med school?

Any ideas?

1. You are not to old for US schools.
2. You should take the prereqs and more to prepare for medical. Med Schools have different requirements so you should look at all the schools that you want to apply to. If you choose to get another degree it would probably take you less than 3years, which is plenty of time to make good grades.
3. The chances of getting into med school in the US is good if you make mostly A's and have a high MCAT of 30+.

take the pre reqs, do a mcat prep course. if your GPA is 3.5 out of 4.0 and your mcat is above 28 you have a shot at US Md and DO schools. then after you try US schools you can look at foreign schools. the oldest person in my med school class was 57 so not too old by any means.
