Is one year of calculus necessary?

Do I need to take one year of Calculus for med school? Some schools say one semester of calculus, others say one year of calculus, and some just say one year of math. Right now I'm taking Calculus 1 and I think I'll be acing this class since I took it already in high school and I'm familiar with everything. I don't want to take Calculus 2 because I'm not really good when it comes to math so I don't want end up doing poorly and screwing up my GPA. Will it look bad when applying to med school if I take only one semester of Calculus. I was hoping to take a semester of Statistics instead since its easier.

Most schools require atleast one class of math. It can be any of algebra, calculus or statistics. I think you should be good if you have atleast one class in basic mathematics.

For many schools there is no requirement for math. Check out the AMCAS book of medical school requirements. Most post bac programs have no math.

So then do medical schools look to see if you took calculus? Do they REALLY want you take it? Because I know from doctors that once they got into medical school they never needed to "do" calculus again...

oh hi I'm new btw
