Hey, I've always been interested in epidemiology and have really been confused about the career. I know that you don't need an MD to be an epidemiologist but can hold one anyway. What's the difference? And I'm also finding it hard to find the salaries for the two types. I want to do field work eventually, possibly with MSF. I just want to know these things so I can decide whether or not I should go to medical school.
So to clarify, I want to be an epidemiologist who does field work across the globe. But I'm confused about what privileges come with an MD(vs. a masters in epidemiology) and the difference in median pay. If anyone can help me out, that would be great, thanks.
