marsupial is on a distinguished road
hi.. need some advice pls lol

hey.. ok

i went to college when i was 17. i was not serious. i think my main motivations were to get high and basically accomplish nothing, which i did. anyway, after SEVERAL YEARS of this, i am finally ready to get serious, and am considering a medical profession. unfortunately, my gpa is low - 2.0 at the moment, with 30 credits taken. my sat was 1410 and all my highschool grades were very strong.

looking at the degree requirements for penn state's premedical program, I would need enough additional credits to where I could technically boost my gpa into the 3.5+ range. also, i have taken no science courses, so depending on how strongly medical schools look at your science gpa, my slightly lower "normal" gpa might look less scathing?

just wondering if you guys think it would be feasible. i feel very motivated, and would enjoy the challenge. I am a very strong test taker, and I think that with sufficient mcat preparation I can do extremely well. one thing i'm worried about is my age..... I am currently 23 with only 1 "year" of college completed, with pretty bad grades and several withdrawals. any input would be greatly appreciated.. ty

jameslynton is an unknown quantity at this point
You have less that a year taken of courses. You have three+ years to get up the GPA and take the pre-req's and do well. Stay sober and work hard. Drugs and alcohol take a big chuck out of people's lives. Even after many people get away from using them - they die much earlier than other people due to the health issues with them.
