Do med schools look at what college you went to?

Hello!

I goto George Mason University in Virginia, which is actually a very good school. It is mostly a commuter school, but a good one at that. Not too many complaints I have for it. Though I feel that I have good enough grades and ability to transfer to Virginia Tech. A great school, I think.

But the question is: Do med schools look at which college you went to? If two people with almost the same scores and grades and everything, but one went to a good school and the other to a great school. Would it matter then?

Thanks, and if this isn't the right place to ask this question then the mods can move this wherever appropriate.

They do take it into account, but the all important factor are your grades and GPA

They take it into account much more in the US than in the Caribbean. In the US, it's just another way to separate a ton of people with equally high scores. Some caribbean schools are even OK with community college courses to fulfill science requirements, which would never fly in the US.

Where can I verify that med schools do not allow community college courses to satisfy the requirements?

I have seen a few websites who give their prereqs and their equivelents at some local community colleges. Although the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Drake Universitys Pharmacy(I know it is not med school, just the only one off my head right this second.)
