    Very Urgent Question

Okay, well I don't really know of any other credible source or discussion forum on the the net to go to, so I decided I might as well come to actual pre-med students. Okay first off I'm a senior in high school, and:

    SAT: 2010
    Rank: 8/768

Acceptances: Villanova University, Penn State University, Wilkes University, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
    Pending: Lehigh University

Okay, my main question is really... where do you think I should go...

I mean I know Penn State has decent med and high rankings in chem (22nd), physics (24th), and Villanova and Lehigh have a lot of national prestige, and University of the Sciences is well... one of the best science schools in the country, but I'm just having a hard time choosing.

Please give your opinions, and oh... those two rankings are from 2007 US News Book if i do remember... you can also check them at wikipedia

2010? What does that mean? Gosh, I guess I really AM old when I have no idea what SAT scores mean anymore. Why sonny, back in my days I had to walk 5 miles to school in the snow!

At any rate, the best bet would be to go wherever you would feel most comfortable at. It depends on what you want to do, who you want to meet, and the opportunities best suited for you.

I chose a state school over other private institutes because it afforded me a larger breadth of choices to take, people to meet, and girls to do.

So I dont think people can really you where. Just remember this, when applying to medical school it really boils down to a NUMBERS game. Go where you can get the best dang GPA possible.

well the sad story is my guidance counselors never told me a damn thing about SAT II's.

and btw... Lehigh is ranked around 28-30 in a few national listings

A 1330 will get you into UCLA only if you're an underrepresented Minor.

Slate07 - How did you not know about the SAT II's? I knew about those things in middle school.

i really dont know... i mean i knew they existed... its just i had no clue i needed to take them for acceptances.

i acknowledge that a lot of the blame is on my part, but i even spoke to my guidance counselor about places like penn and he never said anything about them other than what i need, when i need to apply and such...

actually i have taken one... but i need two for penn and most other schools (physics:720)--> my teacher is the mechanical engineering chair at Lehigh University in their engineering program (on of the top ten in the country) so i was very thoroughly prepared because of his AP Physics class. I just i found out about them too late to take them into consideration.

Well, look at each school beyond its Newsweek ranking. Look at their courses, programs, the campus, where they're located, how much it costs, etc. Find some students who went to these schools and find out their opinions.

I didnt go into this blindly and just look at ratings... I did tour all of the campuses, especially Villanova (11 days at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine) and USP (they say, for what its worth, they have a 92 percent acceptance with about 7-8 students a year, and its probably credible since all they do is focus on sciences and they were the first college of pharmacy and still one of the best chemistry and physics colleges out there).
