pre study course

hey newbies to the 6 year prgram.
you should attend the pre-study course. its not about the teaching, but about the socializing. i admit you dont learn anything there, but you meet people and know more ppl if you attend, because when class starts you are divided into groups because the class size is too large and you dont get to know the people in the other groups too well. so it really really helps if you attend the ore-study becuase it jump starts your social life here. at the end you end up knowing everyone anyway, through parties, but you know more people and better at the pre study because you all live together in the dorms because no one has an apt at that time.

Is the same program available for the 4 year program?

Also, anyone have suggestions on flights to Poznan? Where to fly into? What websites have the most inexpensive flights? Where to stay in Poznan? Etc...

Thanks so much!

I agree about the socializing part... Wasn't the same for me when I started though because even though i didn't have the pre-course, I still met almost everyone by being close to them in the dorms, at least for the first week or 2 before people moved out... But seeing as the classes are massive these days, the class is divided into smaller groups, and the precourse can actually give U a jump-start on meeting people.

Agree with you about the socializing part... But then again, I hadn't attended the prestudy course and still managed to meet everyone because during the first couple weeks people were still in the residence, and I saw them around and met them... But seeing as the class sizes are massive these days, and the class gets divided, then the precourse is a good idea to get a jump-start on meeting people and building relationships... Those first few precourse weeks are a good time to get to know the city, where to shop etc.. , and to find an apartment if you're interested in that...

phones

Hi

I start the 4yr MD program in Sept 2005. Just wondering, what are most of the North American students using as a phone.

Are people using a GSM cell phone and buying a SIM card in Poland.

What are people using to call home (Canada and US)? Their cell phone?

Thanks

I read that hardlines require an annoying amount of waiting to get hooked up. The stats for Poland on the cia.gov website show cell phone users outnumbering hardline users by about 2/1.

Christine, send me a PM with the following and I'll contact the site administrator to get you set up. Here's what they'll need:

Select Username
Select Password
First Name
Last Name
Email Address
Program Type (4yr or 6yr)
Graduation Year

Again, PM me with this, and I'll pass it along. It shouldn't take this long. It only took me about a week.
Hey all, so I spoke with the ASG pres about this, and he informed me that the North American admissions office sends them a list of accepted students each month which gets checked against people applying for log ins to insure that they are actual students. So, just sit tight for a few more weeks, and if you don't get access by then, PM me once more and I'll see what I can do. I know some of you have been waiting longer than a month, so sorry for the delay.
