Poznan University ? HELP!

Alright - I am a highschool student interested in the 6-year program.

So, what do you think? Should I go for it? Would I be better off with a traditional approach in US schools?
Why'd you pick Poznan?
How much does transportation cost you?
It is worth it (traveling across the big pond for school)?

Unless you absolutely, 101%, unequivocally, want to go into medicine... then I would seriously advise you to take more time considering your options. Why not go to College, get loans or financial aid. If you take the leap into Med School right away, you may regret missing the 'college experience'. Of course, there is a flip side to every coin... but that's just my opinion.

if you want to practice medicine, than College is a waist of time. Why spend 4 years doing something that really does not take you anywhere? Especially if you want to practice medicine. just my opinion.

Absolutely! If you know you want to go into medicine, then go for it... there are also 7 year programs that you should look into... 3 in college and four in med school.

I was not sure if I wanted to go into medicine, but college reassured me. Maybe for you, it might be the other way around? Maybe not.

At the end of the day, you know best.

But I'd advise this... try your best to get into a US Med School. End of story.

hi; well i am a student at PUMS, first of 4.

hmmm... well i know plenty of 18 y.olds here, don't fret about that one, along with the polish kids, that would make about 400 of you in the program.

One nice thing, if you are european, well you can always work in europe no problem.

But, really, have you ever traveled before? ever lived by on your own before? have you BEEN TO POLAND BEFORE? how about the school. if your like any other american kid i know, the answer is no to all of those questions. Hold on to your seat...

The college thing, well, you will have all the college experience you can get your hands on. The Dorm parties are always excessive. The six years have much more time to have a life.

But here is some advise. If your set on poland... goto UJ, the city is way nicer and the education is up to you anyway. Krakow has something like the 5th largest tourism for a city in the world. There is a reason. They also won euro nightlife 2004, 2006, there is a reason. I have been to classes and the hospital there, everything seemed to be better then at PUMS, except the results on the USMLE, but let the dogs fight that one out, i dont care.

If your not self motivated as in ready to study on your own days at a time. Goto regular college in the USA. The school gives you a good background but if you want to pass the USMLE, you really have to do it completely by your self.

But really, check out the royal college of surgery in dublin, they have probably the best reputation when i comes to the translation back to the USA.

Assuming that everything goes well for you, you will be the youngest resident in your hospital.

Well, dont mind my words if they are discouraging its saturday night and i am slacking on biochem. Good luck.
