Medical Schools in Poland help?

I am considering attending a 4 year program in eastern europe, and it seems Poland is really the only country which offers these. Does anyone know which would be better quality and higher prestige in the US? My undergrad GPA is 3.8 and I have plenty of research experience. I have been out of undergrad for two years and I am currently attending a program where I can earn a PhD and an MD, but in 8 years. I have realized that I want to pursue just an MD and do not want to spend 4-6 years on a degree I feel I do not need. Also, I want to live abroad at some point in my youth and this is my last chance!! Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now, I am confused.

Which school(s) did you attend?
  • Debrecen
    Warsaw
    Katowice

Or all three?

poznan or warsaw then?

So it looks like krakow requires the MCAT, so that option is out. I have been considering this transition for over a year now and I have finally mustered up the courage to quit the comfortable graduate program I am in. So please let me know if there are any critical flaws to these schools. By what was reported above, it looks like poznan is not worth the trouble? Other posts seemed to praise it, but I guess these could have been reps from the school.

LOL !!!

If he is an agent, then I would say that he is one of the most unprofessional agents. Can’t even lie consistently, can he? Joe, how long have you been in Medical School? It appears you have lots of experience and information about all these school.

JOE (if that is your real name), and everyone else, please do not mislead students like us. Post a reply only if you have actually been in the program or have enough evidence to support your claim. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not mislead student’s like us. We already have a lot to worry about while making a decision, and on top of that few people for few hundred or thousand dollars are jeopardizing at least 4 year and $60,000-$100,000 for many want to be doctors like us. Your small cut in getting a student to the school of your choice can cost him/her their entire life’s savings or a life time debt.

Mikols, I have been busy with school lately; however, now I have some time on hand, and thus have started to get answers to the questions that you had posted earlier...about checking the accreditation and recognition of the schools affiliated with HMI.

no MCAT, no problem?

If you're interested in Krakow, you should call the school office and speak with them about the MCAT requirement vs. your academic achievement and current situation. They may very well be flexible if you can convince them of your suitability for the program (3.8 GPA + grad student is an excellent start). I believe the MCAT is only listed as required because it is assumed that all applicants from the US will have taken it. I know for a fact there is some play in the recommended requirements, as long is the student is clearly a strong candidate. Good luck wherever you end up.

I think Poznan is "worth the trouble" and I am here. Unlike the troll that posted the flame against Poznan. Be careful with the information you take from this site as there are a lot of agents posting about. Or fishing if you will.

Bye ......... Gerry

Reps from the school? Are you joking? Gerry and I are first year students here. Trust me, if I were an agent, I wouldn't be so honest in my evaluation of the school and the program it offers. Overall, it works for me, but there is room for A LOT of improvement. However, in comparison of most of the 4-year programs in Poland, Poznan definitely has their act together.
