Jagiellonian Admission Stats

This is obviously hear-say, but does anyone know how difficult it is to be accepted into the four-year medical program at Jag? If anyone is actually a student at the university, some information would be helpful. I've already tried searching for more information on ValueMD, but no reliable information comes up.

I have looked at Jag, Warsaw, and Poznan for some time now, and notice that Jag only accepts/enrolls about 25 students per year per the four-year MD program.

Obviously there are more than just North American students applying. With a 3.2 GPA, and haven't taken the MCAT yet, I'm curious to the application process. I'm also trying to come back to California eventually.

Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Jagiellonian has a cap of 35 students per class for the 4-yr program and normally fills this quota each year. I can not comment about the admissions stats or how competitive it is to get in because I simply do not know. However, the application process is very user friendly, perhaps AMCAS light. Letters or rec, personal statement, transcript, MCAT (or equiv.), good physical health, and a telephone interview... pretty standard but not as grueling or time consuming as in North America. Also, you can practice in California if you finish this program in response to your previous concern. If you have any pressing personal questions, then I suggest that you call the school office. They are friendly, helpful, and have plenty of experience in answering personal questions and student concerns.

If you have any questions that you want a student to answer, then feel free to PM me.

I'm a first-year (4 year program) at Jagiellonian, so perhaps I can help with class demographics/stats, etc. First off, our class has 35 students, which Newt mentioned was the cap. Most of my classmates' GPA's (assuming they're not lying) range from about 3.0 to 3.5 or so. As for MCAT, they range from rather low (24 or so) to pretty damn high (36 is the highest I've heard in our class). But like I said, this is mostly hearsay, so take it all with a grain of salt.

As for myself, I got in with no problems (stats: 3.3, 29).

I would re-iterate the above advice: call the school office. They've always been very helpful ... even when I paid my tuition over 3 months late.

One final bit of advice: apply early. As with any admissions process, the competition gets tougher as the clock ticks, so better to get your foot in the door earlier rather than later.

Good luck!

It's about the same GPA range at Poznan, from what people say. Didn't need an MCAT when I applied. We are still in the process for California. The application was turned in early this year. Something to keep in mind if California interests you. (I was about a 3.0 with no MCAT, but worked as a Paramedic for a while.)

Thanks for the clarification. So the post claiming that both the Polish Language and English Language program have gained California Approval is a little premature?

Jagiellonian's English program is approved. It just appeared on the California list. Poznan is waiting to hear something back from California.

Yes it does! I didn't see that when the post first came out. And CA seems to have done some redesign of its website.

Again congrats on CA approval!

I know that Jag requires the MCAT, and asks that the score be submitted with the other application materials. Do they require an official score from AAMC or can I include the examinee report (or a copy) with the application?
