Smile Jagiellonian admission 2007

Hi I am a graduate from the Uk and have recently applied to the 4 year medicine course at jagiellonian.

I just wanted to know if anyone has applied to the 4 year medical school course?

I have applied and had an interview by phone last week but have not heard from the university. I was informed I would be told in 2 weeks.

I would love to hear from anyone who has applied

Peace

Tas

Hi.

I applied a few weeks ago and about a week after my interview I heard back from them that I was accepted. I applied fairly late but my interview went well and I was given notice via email. Hope this helps.

This was for the 4 year program for the Fall of 07

Hey,

I'm also going to be starting my first yr of the 4yr program in Krakow in fall 2007. I'm from the US, specifically Chicago and will be starting out academic life in the dorms. I just got back from Poland today and had spent a few days in Krakow last week. The city looks beautiful, and the M1s who just finished are very helpful. I can't wait to start in August!

Hey everyone,

Another American here. Will be attending the 4-year program starting this fall. Not too keen on the dorms, however, but may have to stay there if I cannot find anything suitable (both in terms of living conditions and my budget).

If there are any current students lurking here who may know of a room available, please give me a shout. I've checked the Jagiellonian message board, but it's been pretty bad as of late.

Alas! A UJ med student has registered to this forum. If there are any questions about Jagiellonian 4 yr English or Krakow, feel free to ask.

Already, I feel obligated to respond to the apartment inquiry. If you do not have a place already or know someone who can arrange a nice apartment for you, don't be afraid of the dorms. Many first year and even upper year students come to the dorms in Sept and then start their apt search. The rooms are nice, close to class, and you can move out whenever you want. Most apts are found on internet listings as szybko.pl, gumtree.pl, or domiporta.pl. The prices are high now due to the tourist and summer seasons, however, around late August and Sept, more listings will start to pop up at more affordable prices.

USMLE. UJ prepares its students very well for the 2 medical school steps. I have not heard of any students failing and instead have heard of scores in the upper 90th percentiles. The university uses shelf exams and MCQ tests in preparation for these steps and consequent liscencure.

Teaching and academic staff. UJ is like any other university in the world. Some professors are very good while others are very bad. I can not complain about the overall quality of teaching. All of the professors are very well trained, many of them have spent time in the best North American universities. One personal opinion is that the professors in Krakow are in fact more friendly than many of the professors in North America. They are very accomodating and give the English-language students their best resources which are on par with the best American resources.

British & black students. Poland once was a very cosmopolitan country with almost half of its population being foreign, Krakow was once the main urban hub. There are many students coming in from the UK, more and more each year. I know of more than 20 in the pre-clinical years of the program, a few of which are in the 4yr course. There are a few black students in the program, many of whom hail from Africa or the Scandinavian countries. Within the program, I don't know how many, but it is not a double-digit number. Krakow is booming city with many foreigners coming in... I have seen a plethora of races and ethnicities living there and I am sure many more are yet to come.
