4-yr MD program in Warsaw - supplement to diploma

Hi,

I am about to graduate from the 4-yr program in Warsaw. Today I went to the dean's office to inspect my official transcripts and I find out that since our diploma will be valid in the EU we get something called the supplement to diploma. Now what is the supplement? it's basically a detailed transcript and any additional information that explains what degree is being granted and what it means. Since our program was only 4-yrs and the EU system requires 6-yrs they added courses from my undergrad B.Sc Biochem to 'make up for the hours' needed to fulfill EU requirements.

What concerns me is the way they added these undergrad courses to my medical degree: the supplement states that I have done my medical degree in 2 schools: the Canadian university I'd attended and Medical U of Warsaw. It looks really messy and confusing... . I wonder if this will make my diploma unacceptable in the US and Canada? Is anyone from other 4-yr programs in Poland faced with the same situation? I really don't know what to think about it

I argued with the dean about issuing a separate transcript that would include only my 4-yrs of med school that I could use for my applications for the residencies in Canada and US but he refused. I can imagine residency directors in NA laughing at this 'supplement/transcript' just b4 they throw it into the garbage...

I don't think anyone looks at it anyways. They just care about "part A" and a decent english translation of that.

This should not be a problem at all. What they are doing is, believe it or not a very good thing. Making your diploma EU compatible can ONLY bring you good things. You never know when you will need something like that. I did not know about this. I am going to contact my school in Krakow to see if they can give me that "supplement" since I graduated May 5th 2004 and they joined the EU officially May 1st 2004. What about the 2004 graduates at your school? Did they get this?
