Poland questions
I have some questions for American (or Canadian) students who are currently studying in Poland. This is an incomplete list, but I was hoping some of these could be answered.
1. What about banking? I was thinking about opening an account with Deutschebank, since there are branches here in the States as well as Poland (at least as far as I can tell from their website), would this be a decent idea? 2. What about cell phones? Are the plans there compatible with the phones sold here, or would I have to buy a new phone there? How much, on average, do you spend per month on your phone bill? 3. What is the food situation like in the dorms? I know there is a kitchen, but do people usually cook or go out to eat? How much money per month should I allocate for food? 4. Where can you go to work out (gyms)? 5. What are you doing for health insurance? 6. What about prescription medications? Should I try to bring a years supply? Anyway, I know this was a lot of questions, but I am just trying to plan and organize, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

2. Pay as you go with a sim card. Not that expensive if you like texting. 3. Don't know what the situation at the dorms are. I think it's one kitchen per floor. There is a grocery store just around the corner from the dorms. 4. A few places, but Olymp seems to be popular among students. Centrum Fitness Olymp 5. I think students are paying 30Zl per month. Not sure, but the school will let you know what it is you need to do. Good Luck! |

Could anybody reply from Poland: 1) How much is the tuition fees for Poznan, Warsaw, Lodz? 2) Can I have any financial aid? 3) Which school you recommend? Any info you provide will lead me to my dream being an MD. By the way I am a 27 year-old chemical engineer from Turkey. All the comments are welcomed |

Hi. If you already are a doctor and now you want to do the specialisation in Poland, first of all you must know Polish. There is no possibility of working as a doctor without knowing the language. Second - a specialisation is a work so you don't pay for it, you get a salary - usually 1150 zl a month - which is 400 $ a month. There is also a possibility in Poland to do the specialisation as a volunteer - you work for free. And first of all - to get to the residency in cardiology or any other specialisation you must pass the LEP - physicians state exam - and depending how many points you will get from this exam, these are the chances of getting the place. The specialisation in cardiology lasts 5 years.
