have u weighed out the advantages and disadvantages about studying in europe

do u knw how many countries offer medical education
do u knw how many of those TEACH in english

do u know how many of those are accepted by the WHO and GMC and ECFMG

do u knw which school to chose from....
do u knw why u want to go there? or why u should go there

do u knw about external examinations? USMLE, PLAB etc etc

russia???? but thats not really classed as europe... AND ALSO IS shaded grey area. THE GMC HAS REFUSED RECOGNITION OF SUM OF THE UNIVERSITITES IN RUSSIA. PLEASE NOTE RUSSIAN APPLICANTS. IF YOUR DEGREE IS OBTAINED FROM UNIVERSITY NOT RECOGNISED BY GMC - IT WILL B USELESS IN THE UK

well apart from the obvious reason of the recognition dispute with the GMC

if your not gunned down by the mafia.. or stabbed by skinheads ull probably get run over by the rude obnoxious people there

PROS for european schools

• if u are european -wanting to practise in europe NO PLAB

• its cheaper - tuitions and expenditure that is.

• cheaper to get here... i.e ticket to the carribean cost on good part of 600-700 pounds.. to warsaw.. mmmm 60-70 pounds

• its not too hot(u wil never worry about melting into a ball of goo)

• its close to home(yayeeeee - u can go back for holidays more easily)

• you can get some of ur clinicals in your home countries - individual to individual basis - this statement applies to medical university of warsaw)

• u get to travel around europe and middle east and asia cheap (hurray for ryan air and easy jet and eurorail )

• there are lots of students from europe here. so u wont feel alone.

• CURRICULUM BASED ON AMERICAN EDUCATION IN SOME SCHOOLS AND IN EUROPEAN SYSTEM IN OTHERS

• CULTURAL DIFFERENCES - learn sumthing new about other people and their ways of life!!!

• FAST FOOD CHAINS STILL AVAILABLE - so ull never starve.

• AND1 of the most IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER PPL - THEY ARE ALL GOVERNMENT FACILITIES...... SO NO1 IS GOING TO CLOSE DOWN AND RUN OFF WITH UR MONEY (and that ladies and gentlemen is a winner)

im sure ive missed more PROS...... can u think of any?

CONS FOR EUROPEAN SCHOOLS

• LANGUAGE PROBLEM AT START

• CLIMATE & TEMPERATURE HERE - IN WINTER IS A NITEMARE... BUT U GET USED TO IT

• FOOD.... sometimes u cant always find what u are used to having

• CULTURAL DIFFERENCES -requires time for adjustments

i forgot another PRO - u are ellegible for getting grants and loans (Canada included)

CARRIBEAN SCHOOLS - PROS & CONS
please take mental note of ratio of pros to cons.... that shud put sum things into perspective

• teach in english - supposedly

• private institutes???? u need to check how long they have been around and the likelihood of them disappearing in the middle of the school year

• curriculum - similar to USA and canada

• they have CURVES - so thats good news to all those of u who are used to scrappin in due to the presence of curves. in which case.WE DNT WANT U HERE.(no offence)

• its really really hot ... y do that to urself

• regardless of whether u are AMERICAN OR NOT U ARE STILL A FOREIGN MEDICAL STUDENT - U NEED TO TAKE THE USMLE

• if you are european -wanting to practice in the UK- U NEED TO TAKE THE PLAB EXAM

• most of these schools are on little islands in the middle of no where - bad news if u get sea sick. bad news if u cant swim

• most of these schools dnt have fast food chains..... so no Pizza hut, Mc Donalds, burger king, kfc, dixi fried chicken... kebabish etc etc

• they have some of the clinicals in the USA - but u often dont get much of a choice as to where u want to go...

• some schools offer review of step 1.... kaplan review etc etc (differs from school to school)

• some of these schools havent been around long - <5years - do u seriously want to risk ur future in the hands of a school thats been in existance only that long think about it

• EXPENSIVE - FOOD, CLOTHING, TUITION..... ESPECIALLY TUITION AND ACCOMODATION

• TRAVEL IS EXPENSIVE - ESPECIALLY IF U ARE FLYING FROM ASIA OR EUROPE OR MIDDLE EAST

definitely some biased opinions but still I'd rather go to Poland where you would have a better studying environment than Caribbean where your more worried about if your air conditioner is on, if they even have one.
