General Question
I was just wondering if anybody thought it was odd that in the welcome package sent by AIM there was absolutely no mention of the fees etc. required for the next four years. I'm aware that this information is available on the website, but isn't it their obligation to formally inform us of the financial aspect of this process?? Anybody with me on this??

Warsaw medical school english program is as old as the one in medical uni of Lodz. So whats the guarantee that Lodz won't do the same when its time for clinicals. I am not trying to scare ppl. but u know something to think about!! besides if Warsaw medical school have problems with the clinicals then whats going to happen to those guys who are about to start the clinicals. Where are they going to go?!! |

How do you know that Tulane University will send their students to the Tuoro Infirmary for their OB/GYN rotation?
How do you know that Columbia won't end its over-100-year arrangement with Presbyterian Hospital. The answer is: you don't. It's likely that AIM will switch hospitals at some point in the U.S. for clerkships. But since that's one of the reason to apply with them for Lodz, its unlikely that they'll cancel them any time soon. These are on-going arrangements that they have, with hospitals that are ACGME-approved. It wouldn't make much since for them to do away with that part of the oppurtunity. Although, it may happen. You pay your money and you take your chances (as my mom loves to tell me). Look, I don't mean to dampen your spirits or whatever, but you seem to be asking questions that can't possibly have an answer. Or a whole stream of questions that will only be answered after you get underway with AIM at Lodz. That's why I told you it was a leap of faith. This is merely an oppurtunity that the Medical University of Lodz and the Alliance Institute of Medicine are providing because they know some people can't get the chance anywhere else. They are not guaranteeing you anything. Everyone in this boat should know that. So when you ask a question like: "how do I know they're not to going to do ____ when I get there?" Well, you don't. And neither does anyone else. It is germaine to this discussion, however, to mention past financial aid problems that students had with the school. A number of students who've gone to Lodz have told me that when they applied with AIM, they were promised that Title IV aid, that is Stafford Loans, would be available to them, and wasn't. It only took a few calls by a couple of students to whatever agency of the Department of Education handles that to get it straightened out. And I suspect, that problems with the clinicals tha may arise can be worked out in similar fashion. But that would just be a guess. I do know, however, that worrying about something that you have no control over to begin with won't help. And maybe you've heard this (old Hebrew proverb): what you guard against most, you bring upon yourself. Worst case scenario is that you'll do you clinicals in Poland. And since its not some third-world backwater, you'll be okay, if that happens. Michael |
