so since you are a FORMER lodz student i guess that means you have left that school, is this right? the ones you refer to as "IN TO DEEP" does that mean they waisted all their money and they are just going for the hell of it, or are they "so far in" that they WILL become doctors? i am confused on why you would say they are in to deep, when it is your own choice to leave or stay (you are not forced) and if it is a waist, i personally would just transfer or leave asap so i don't waist anymore money (it would be a leeson learned). as long as you become a doctor and you want it bad enough i think how ever "deep" they are in...it is worth it. it is just my opinion. In regards to the tuition how much higher did they go for you guys cause the amount i Will be paying is no more than 10,000 annually....and for medical schol THIS IS CHEAP!!! in my experience with AIM they have been helpful and i have choosen to go to Lodz this year for the 4year program...i could be wrong but i have done as much research as possible all "trustfull" advice i have been able to receive tell ME that Lodz is by far my best choice (in regards to attending school in Europe).

Why Lodz??? Why not Warsaw? Poznan? Jagiellonian? These last three, at least, have a pretty good track record with their english programs. Why's Lodz so hot?

for my siduation...Lodz is "hot". i actually did apply to all those other schools except Poznan because it is a straight four year program they are not affiliated or have contracts with any of the hospitals in America so therefore you stay in Poland for 4 years (clinicals and basic sciences there). Being an American student i tried to apply directly to the schools but found that the only way to recieve financial aid and do ALL my clinicals in America is by applying thru AIM or Hope...so i did....i got in both schools. Hope which is affiliated with Warsaw, silesia, Lublin and Pomeranian (which they said warsaw i can not go to beause of there licensing for doing clinicals in America is not valid...or something like that ). and Alliance Institute of Medicine (AIM) which is affiliated with Medical University of Lodz. With my application process with Hope just seemed unorganized (no actual interview they just accepted me with my app. and tran.) and a little fishy in regards to doing clinicals in America. im really big on doing clincals in America because this is usually your way into residency and technology is different in America than in Europe. i have read on many forums that people have had similar problems with Hope. i researched Medical school of Lodz and actually founds some research articals (if you want i will give you link or just google it) and found that it is higher ranked (so is Warsaw but i excluded it cause of clinicals). the people at Aim have been very organized in regards to my application process...i have spoken with the dean of the school and director of the english med school department and just found them to be helpfull and very profesional. i hope this helps and that i do not sound bias...everyones experience may be different but any questions please feel free to ask i will try to answer to my best of knowlegde and honestly ^__^ |

And that bit about warsaw and clinicals sounds even more bogus. I just skimmed the AIM website, sounds rather bogus, too. No mention of any specifics with regards to 3rd/4th yr rotations. You can do them in US/UK/Poland. Where? "Northeast, Midwest, and the South." Yeah, that answers it. Sounds like all the other schools in Europe, ie. you can do whatever you want... as long as your studies fit within the framework of Polish law, EU law, and depending on which state you wish to return to, the licensing regulations of that particular state. All in all, looks like they've got a great sales pitch, at almost twice the price of War, Poz, or Jag. Still, I'm not at all convinced it will get you any sort of advantage. And all three school I mentioned will co-sign for your loans, I'm sure. I'm just asking, mostly out of curiosity, 'cause it sounds a bit odd in america. Just ask around... Lodz? What's that?

wow....dude relax!! first off i said nothing downgradeing of any of the school you mentioned.....i actually would like to go to Poznan but LIKE i said due to MY siduation I FELT lodz was my best desicion (i do not feel or want to explain My siduation completely in order to PROVE something to you) i have family in eastern Europe (such as my father and close relative) so going on what they say on the school too. point of the matter....in regards to the thing with warsaw i truelly tried and that is what the director of Hope told me so i am just a messenger on that....even if you thin what i say is bogus. and if not many people hear about Lodz or don't have much to say for Lodz then nothing said about it is nothing bad about it. i rather hear nothign about it then all negative things about the school (not only in regards to Lodz...i refer to all the school in EU). what school do you got to? why are you sooo curious? warmest reagards ^__^ |

After reading some of this negative posts regarding the school i am currently attending, i am forced to reply to this thread.
I am sorry for some of your negative experiences some of you have had with AIM or the University itself. Everyone in my program and also the 4 year program have experienced no problems with either of the above mentioned institutions. AIM has been very helpful with accomodating students in everything they need. Last year this school was ranked 2nd among all the schools in Poland, coming second to the University of Krakow. I dont know why some of you left after attending the university for so long as you say...but like any other school, the only way you are going to be succesfful is if you work on your own, and teach yourself. The lectures here are relatively very good, but if you do not do some work on your own, read multiple books on the same subject you cant expect to do well. Professors here are very helpful and will acutally go out of their way to help you if they see you are a student who is willing to learn. As far as rotations go...AIM does have specific states, and schools setup that you can go to. You are right this information is not on the website...but when you apply you can request for this info and it will be sent to you. I have a complete list of states, school names addresses in the US and in the United Kingdom that was provided to me by AIM. AIM is a fairly new instituition only being around for a few years nowyou , but they're strive to help students is unmatched. To everyone who is planning on coming to Europe for medical school, i advise you search around looking for an University that fits your needs and if you do decide to come here, rest assured from the current students enrolled it is a very good program. Regards, Mannu |

i just hope that everyone whom is considering this medical school or any medical school please do not completly make your desicion ONLY from the info or advice you recieve from this site....email or call the schools you want to go to...this is a big life changing decision and you should talk to the main sources to make a cnfident choice. yes this forum helps i have found lots of helpfull insites......but you will always, no matter what school we are talking about, have that one NEGATIVE person whom did not have a good experience "you can not please them all", or maybe those ones that just don't know what they are talking about, like our friend, whom just made His/her opinion by just viewing the website when i have done many months of research, reviewing, emailing and phone calls. warmest regards ^__^ |

The reason I bring up some of these questions is that time and time again I read the same types of arguments here, some for, some against, some inflammatory, some not. So, I just find it puzzling that most of the traffic generated in the discussions here are generated by those embittered by their experiences, on the one hand, and by those who have yet to get their feet wet, on the other. So, please forgive me if I come off playing Devil's advocate. But come on! Just as an example the comment quoted above... Frankly, I'd be worried. Why would they not make this information freely available? Why do you have to pay to get this info? They have a website explaining in detail the break down of fees and tuition costs, a detailed account of every hour of teaching, even a history of the school, and yet, somehow, this important fact is left out. Or maybe I'm just too nitpicky. And yes, I'm quite certain there are as many experiences out there as there are people and personalities, and no one solution fits all comers. But there is a great deal of misinformation out there as well, and by out there, I mean here. or AIM-Lodz, Poland Medical School for US/Canadian citizens - Student Doctor Network Forums It's what shows up when I google "aim lodz". Then again it's no better for Jag... http://www.valuemd.com/european-russ...stay-away.html Perhaps it's agents trying to undermine their competition?
