Hello again,

Put some pictures from the Polish Germany world cup game yestarday. A bunch of us went to a local pub to watch the game and cheer on the red and white. It was a good game. Here is the link if anyone wants to check them out. All the best,

Umm..

Please cite your source.

Thanks.

Hi,

The source is our Dean's Department. We had a discussion about doing clinical rotations in the US with the Dean. He informed us that the regulations for Medical Schools in the US have changed and one key issue that has changed is the time period alloweded for participating in a exchange program with another medical school abroad. I asked the Dean if they have a internet source of these regulations but they just have them on paper. If I find something on the net I will post it.

I'm a little confused. Correct me if I am wrong here, but what you are saying is that;

Your dean says that the EU is limiting the number of rotations an EU medical student can do outside the EU to six weeks.

(Or is it that US medical schools are limiting EU students -- this, would not be news, as they have been doing this for years. Hasn't stopped Caribbean schools, etc..)

While this may be possible, I have trouble believing that this is driven by the EU. Considering how important scientific exchange is (and rotations abroad are at least partially scientific exchange), it would only serve to shoot the EU in the foot. Plus, I know a bunch of exchange programs attended by Hungarian, German and British medical students outside the EU that are at least double that time period.

Just based on what you wrote, I am more inclined to believe that this maybe driven by either the new Polish government or the medical school itself, worried about the Polish physician supply hemorrhaging away or other financial considerations.

If you could post and pm me (as I don't have the time to follow this forum at the moment) the exact EU regulation (paragraph, etc..) and quoted in your Dean's letter, I'll be happy to look it up and let you and others know what I find.

In the meantime, I remain highly skeptical.

hey there,

well this is kinda embarrassing. I have already applied to the Warsaw 6 year, called and spoke to people there about my situation. It may just be that now it's a waiting game and I'm nervous. But I didn't complete my final year chem or physics in highschool. (i have a BA) I do have my grade 12 chem and physics.
However, I have taken both courses, applied to medical care, this year. I received high 80s and 90s in all of them. I did this in college, for respiratory therapy. (ps - its more demanding in Canada than in the states)
When I called the school, they told me that while its not university, college is "higher" than highschool, and that I should be ok.

So here's my question: are they just pulling my leg? I am sure that they would like as many applicants as possible for many reasons. Was I just added to that "no way" list? Thank you for the application... heehee??

Do you warsaw students know anyone else in this situation?

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Cheers,

md

haha thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I'll just keep crossing my fingers.

Hey,

The student government had a meeting with the Dean yestarday. The final decision of acceptance will be made at the end of June so you will get your answer. I think that you will be ok in fullfilling your requirements. As long as you have completed the subjects then you satisfy the requirements. Plus you took them on a higher level. So don't worry so much. All the best,

Hi,

There are no interviews in warsaw. I dont think a lot of people would fly out to have an interview due to costs. If you have recieved your letter then you have a place in the 4 year program. All the best,
