    Carribean med graduate-PA

    Advertisements

I'm a carribbean medical graduate, didn't match for a couple years and tired of trying and waiting, so now I'm in PA school. Is there anyone out there in my situation that was able to match in FM after working as an FM PA?

I want to practice in FM, either as an MD or PA. I'm wondering if the experience as a PA in FM will help get in residency in FM.

Do you think practicing as a PA in FM for 1-2 years would help me get in residency? I mean FM PA does pretty much the same stuff as FM MD. I'm hoping this experience will improve my chances.

Wow! This is very interesting! MD to PA. Best wishes in getting a residency. It appears that the further you are from your MD graduation date the more difficult it is to obtain a residency. Hopefully, you get employed as a PA at a large university hospital with numerous residency programs and make the political connections necessary to secure a "pre match" contract. I have a friend who went into Derm as a PA and he made $130 K last year. Not too shabby! Best Regards!

    Thank you
I want to do primary care, especially rural primary care. FM PA does pretty much everything FM MD does, so even though I'm further away from MD graduation, I'll be working in the field of interest. I know for a fact that FM residency programs greatly value FM clinical experience and sincere interest, and I will have both working as a PA in FM.

Hey called you yesterday and today but you no one pick up
here is my tip and what is see that alot of FMGs do in trying to
improve there chance to get into residency.
This seems to work here in Los Angeles Area
I use to work at LAC-USC (NO loan repayment)
and now work at the VA hospital(loan repayment)
the trend is that the FMG does that i notice is that they
either do research which is paid or volunteer for about a year
then they get the letters and the recognition rub elbows with
people that know people then go to residency
you can do this at the city/state you live
