Im currently in PA school and very unhappy with my situation. I dont like the school and I would rather be in med school at this point. I was thinking of dropping out and doing my remaining pre reqs at SGU since I could have an essentially guaranteed spot in their med school. (I have a 3.9 GPA).

OR, I can stick it out at the PA program (I am almost halfway done will graduate with a ** in 07 and an MS in 08). I LOVE seeing patients and being a PA isnt so bad but id rather be a doc.

Anyone care the help me think this through? PLEASE!!

finish the ** and apply to US schools- with a 3.9 and a PA degree you shouldn't have any problems.

right... and I still have pre reqs to take. a year of physics, a year of bio, and a semester of o chem. In which case we're talking about a decent ammount of time, I would drop out of PA school to take those pre reqs and if I bombed the mcat id be screwed. Thus the reason I ask about programs like sgu.

an extra year or 2 ain't gonna kill you. If your GPA is so high- you should probably do decently well on the mcats (get above 28 your in the ball park, 30 your good) with a little review (and since you'lll probably take the pre-reqs right befor taking the mcats it will help.

I doubt there are many people on this board that would advise you to go the off shore route before you have throughly investigated your chances at a US school.
Plus, hint- quitting a degree program never looks good- adcoms will question your ability to finish.

I thought the prereqs for PA were pretty much the same prereqs for MDs, they accepted you without physics, bio, and chem?

no physics is required and only 1 semester of o chem. I was wrong about the bio. I do have the bio credits according to the med schools Ive talked to. It was just labeled differently or something.

Finish your PA degree, practice a little, make some money, and if you do not like it, apply to medical school. Good luck!

PA is a better profession if you look this way, less stressful, you are dependent on the doctor for main decisions, and not long hours! + good pay!

i think you should practice as a Pa for few years u might end up liking this profession a lot!
