I don't think there is a pharmacy school in the Caribbean that is catered to American students like medical or veterinary schools. However, you can get your pharmacy degree in Mexico.

Hi All:

Yes there is a Pharm D program in the caribbean, Saint Theresa's Medical University on Saint Kitts. Good program in my final term on Island now..alot of new faculty from US Schools and a ton of new students from all over the world. below are the requirements for registration or licesnure in the USA......clinicals are in the USA, and on the Island, fully registerable and licenseable on Saint Kitts and Nevis and throughou the Caribbean.

Take a look:

Requirements

In order to be considered for employment in the U.S., foreign-trained pharmacists must meet the following qualifications, and submit the following documents to us:
· Proof of passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE).
· North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) or in the alternative, if the foreign pharmacist has not passed the FPGEE, he must have successfully registered.
· Proof of passing the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a score of 550 or higher on the paper-based exam, or 213 or higher on the computer-based exam.
· Proof of passing the TSE (Test of Spoken English) with a score of 50 or higher.
· Resume or CV in English.
· Copies of College of Pharmacy transcripts in English.
· Copies of degrees from a 5-year accredited College of Pharmacy.
· Copies of current license(s) from the country or jurisdiction of the College of Pharmacy from which he/she graduates.
· Three (3) references that will attest to moral character and professional competence
I checked and Saint Theresa's is fully accredited by the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis the same as is for any other foreign school.

Thanks MDPHarmDboy. I heard there is a huge shortage of pharmacists in the USA. I hope more foreign pharmacists will help alleviate this problem.

Info For Foreign Pharm Grads

from http://www.nabp.net

"FOREIGN PHARMACY GRADUATE EXAMINATION COMMITTEE™ (FPGEC®) CERTIFICATION

FPGEC Certification Program Changes Effective April 14, 2006

Effective April 14, 2006, the FPGEC Certification Program application process changed, and a new process for evaluating applicant’s educational credentials was implemented. On April 14, 2006, NABP partnered with Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc (ECE) for the educational credential evaluation of new applicants to the FPGEC Certification Program. Information on sending an application and supporting documents to ECE is available in the revised FPGEC Application Bulletin, which can be downloaded by clicking on the link on this page.
The FPGEC Certification program is accepted by 50 state boards of pharmacy as a means of documenting the educational equivalency of an applicant’s foreign pharmacy education. Foreign-educated pharmacists awarded FPGEC Certification are considered to have partially fulfilled eligibility requirements for licensure in those states that accept the Certification.
Also available from NABP is the Pre-FPGE®. Preparing for the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination® (FPGEE®) is much easier when students use the Pre-FPGEE. The Pre-FPGEE will familiarize students with the types of questions that may appear on the FPGEE, and is the only FPGEE practice examination written and developed by NABP.

The FPGEC Certification Program Application Bulletin includes information about applying for the FPGEE.The FPGEC Application Bulletin can be downloaded by clicking on the link on the right side of this Web page.

The FPGEE Study Guide includes information about the blueprint of the FPGEE, sample questions, and a list of textbooks commonly used in United States pharmacy schools. "

The same applies to nursing, CRNA, physical therapy, etc.

Why do you want to come to the Caribbean to become a pharmacist if you could be an MD?
it is not true that forieng trained pharmacist or nurses have to go back to school in the US before they can practice, all they have to do is take to boards exams if the degree granting school is aproved in their home country.

Smile Saint Theresa's Medical University

STMU located on Saint Kitts, West Indies offers the Doctor of Pharmacy program. The University offers a 5-year program which requires 6 semesters or two calendar years on Island with the remaining time spent in clinical education programs in the USA. All STMU graduates must qualify in the USA and other countries by paritcipating in regional standardized licensing examinations. In the USA, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy administers the Foreign Practice Graduate Certication Program. http://www.nabp.net All interested applicants for the Pharm D program are invited to visit our main campus at any time. All graduates of STMU are eligibile for licensure as a Clinical Pharmacist within the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

If you still around just FPGEE (foreign pharmacy graduate equivalence exam)

www.nabp.net

Yes, you can practice pharmacy at all levels if you have a degree from a school outside of the United States of america.

And you can also practice Dentistry after you complete a two year program at one of the only 8 schools in the US that offers it.

Have a good day.
