Hello, to every one

my question is:

how does FLUTAMIDE treat prostatic cancer though it increases LH and testosterone level ??

and

how does it cause gynecomastia if the androgen level is the one which increase ??

aromatase is an enzyme of cytP450 group whose function is to convert androstenidione to estrone...... and testosterone to estradiol.

In humans gene cyp19 located on chr no 15q21 encodes for this enzyme.

The enzyme aromatase is found in many organs including gonads ,brain,adipose tissue,placenta,blood vessels,skin,bone,endometrium.

Aromatase converts testosterone to estradiol


Aromatase converts androstenedione to estrone
