constant vaginal itching

for the past 3 months i have had constant vaginal itching. i had protected intercourse 3months ago and was tested for herpes, i am clean. i ahe seen my gynocologist many times on this problem and every test comes back clean. but the itching still continues. the itching rates from a slight tickle to a stronger itch but no where near a yeast infection. i have no other symtoms.

i have tried many products recommend by my gyno, i have tried changing my clothing detergent, i take salt baths but this still does not go away.

i am told it maybe caused to stress as i had gotten a cut from the sex 3months ago and was worried it was herpes and so my stress level was on the high. but my test came back negative the itching started after and has not stopped.

but how am i supposed to destress when this is giving me stress?

my gyno doesnt know what it is but says its not infections....its jst an itch but its driving me crazy.

please help

Ask your Gyn if there are any signs for inflammation! If not, might be psychogen! Have you had hyperventilation syndrome or psycho disorders like that?!?
All the best!

Well, I do understand your concerns, but I cannot totally agree with you Dr.B - this forum is mainly for discussing medical issues and learning from them, like this one. Plus, when I read about her case, I did what every physician should do: trying to answer a medical question and by doing so, trying to help!
Admittedly I took for granted that the message is coming from somebody in medical field, who would be able to evaluate the answer and I was not really thinking hard about my words and the consequences of them – a mistake and I am sorry for that!
I am an international medical grad, 25, male, working in an internal medicine department, learning for Step Two and I know somebody who has very similar problems and I know what kind of pain/stress that might be – that’s why I would be very interested in diagnosis and treatment! And again, I just wanted to help!
But still, I appreciate your post Dr. B, gave me some food for thoughts…!
So “worried sick“, if you are not in medicine, listen to Dr. B’s words and try to find a gyn you trust and who knows the whole story – and I wish you all the best!!!

coulsd be a fungal infx - these are typically take a long time to heal - months of topical or oral antifungals, and many people have a hard time getting rid of them

could also be eczema i guess - although quiet a weird place to get it

To conclude,
I think you should definitely go and see your gyn. What you describe is one thing, what the gyn observes and treats you for will be better for you.

I think you still need work on yeast infection, herpes normally make painful symptom, not itching. One simple test is using anti-fungus cream topically, if the itching is gone very quickly, that means you got yeast infection. It may come back again and again, especially just after period. If this is the case, you need check your blood sugar, make sure you don't have diabetes. Try these things first, let us know what happens to you.
