Attention Users and Guests:

We’ve received some inquiries regarding ValueMD, so I thought I’d provide an update.

To our surprise, ValueMD has been continuing to grow very rapidly each month since it opened a little over a year ago. Our statistics for the month of March 2004 shows that the site has received over 100,000 new visitors and over 1 million page hits just during that 1 month period . That’s a 20% increase from only the month before, which shows the monthly growth does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

In addition to the thousands of guests who visit ValueMD each day, we now have over 10,000 registered users who regularly participate on the site and share very useful information. Also, our nearly 30 Moderators have done an excellent job of maintaining a professional and organized website to optimize your experience.

Our resources have also grown with over 200 links, 300 downloadable files, and 78,000 posts. The generous users have continued to contribute helpful material for everyone’s benefit. This unselfish attitude is what helps makes ValueMD so successful. Although the continually increased activity means an increased need for resources to handle such large amounts of traffic, our server host, EZHostplace, has been excellent in providing the stable service needed to accommodate our growing population. Despite the rapid growth, we haven’t missed a beat thanks to them .

ValueMD also continues to climb to the top of the ranks of many popular search engines. There is no surprise that ValueMD has been ranked #1 for various keywords related to foreign medical schools for some time, but the real surprise is the push to the top of many USMLE and Residency categories. This shows that many people are not only coming to ValueMD to learn about entry level questions for medical education, but they’re also using the site further down the line to prepare for the USMLE and Residency.

A new website upgrade is in the works and should be implemented some time this year. Many new features will be included in the update, and many old glitches should disappear. More details will be provided as the final stable product nears completion over the coming months.

To answer the questions regarding our sponsored child, Yanibel, we’ve continued to provide support for her on behalf of all the users. For her 10th birthday in July, we’ll provide some notice so that everyone will have the opportunity to submit their birthday wishes on her annual birthday card submitted by ValueMD. Go to the announcement in the Free Downloads Forum titled, "DOWNLOAD here" to get the download nickname and password and to find the link to the download files. Please note that the download nickname and password (changes occassionally) are different than your ValueMD username and password.

It looks like I spoke too soon when I said we haven't had any server issues . I'm not sure exactly why our server has been experiencing instability this past week resulting in short bouts of downtime, but I will try to find out and provide an update shortly. I just hope it's not time for an upgrade . In any case, we appreciate everyone's patience while we look into this.

Hello all,

According to our serverhost, EZHostplace.com, our increased traffic lately has been pushing our server capacity to the limit. Our current server, which I personally thought would be our last , was huge and powerful enough to withstand our best expectations for growth 10 months ago.....so we thought . We've obviously surpassed our best expectations and are now in need of a larger and more powerful server to handle our current and future growth....again . I should also add that EZHostplace.com has done a fantastic job of keeping our site running very smoothly and has been extremely kind and attentive to our needs.

Anyone who was with us during the last server upgrade should remember the downtime we experienced as a result. However, I'm sure they'll agree that it was well worth it for the stability we've enjoyed since then. So I'll ask for your continued patience as we may experience some more downtime, particularly during peak times, until we get this issued resolved. But I will try to update everyone periodically. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we hope you'll understand.

I cannot bring up this forum. I pressed on the Free Downloads Forum in the message etc. and all that I get is a blank page. Try walking me through this from the get go ie. I log in then where do I go ??? It used to be simple for computer illiterates like me.

It's not you.....the site has recently gone a major upgrade and the download section is still not fully functional. Hopefully it'll be back up and running again soon.
