What brings patients to a naturopathic physician?
Our ND respondents also gave us a window into the patient conditions naturopathic doctors most often treat. Fatigue ranked number one, with 63% of respondents reporting fatigue as one of their top three treated conditions (Figure 3). A close second, with 62% of the doctors reporting, were menstruation and hormonal issues. Allergies were the next most common condition treated (41% of respondents), followed by depression/insomnia, thyroid problems, weight/appetite, cholesterol, headaches/migraines, blood pressure issues and fibromyalgia.⁶

These types of patient complaints are exactly the kinds of debilitating chronic illnesses that conventional medicine has a fairly poor track record of treating, and for which naturopathic medicine successfully offers relief.
