Questions for current Premeds

Hello all,

I have searched through these forums quite a bit before asking, and I apologize if this has been recently asked and I missed it. Would some folks in either semester of Premed comment on how they feel about the premed program overall? Do you feel like it has good relevance for entering the med program? Are there any study aides you use for the classes outside the assigned texts? I guess I'm just curious to form a picture of what it is I'm diving into in May of '07.

Thanks for any info you can share-

Worth it

Hello! I don't post here much, but I thought I'd reply to your post. I am currently about finish up Pre-med 1 here at MUA Nevis. In my opinion, students who make it out of pre-med have a huge advantage. You get exposed to A LOT of what you will be seeing in med school. I can go on for pages telling you how much information you will see again. That being said, pre-med at MUA Nevis is NOT easy. You have to study hard, especially in pre-med 2 when they really try to weed out students, to get a 3.0 or above. Admissions is also very strict with the 3.0. You have to get it in order to get into med, no exceptions. So, in conclusion, I would suggest the pre-med program to anyone; however, make sure you come here with the right mindsent and be prepared to work hard. If you make it out of pre-med, you will have a huge advantage going into the M.D. program. Ok, that's all for now. Sorry for the long post. Good luck in the pre-med program next year!

p.s. this post isn't meant to scare anyone. I just feel like how hard pre-med, specifically pre-med 2, is is not made clear enough in the interview

premed prog here really does pepare you.
premed 2 is rumoured to be harder than med 1 (workload-wise).
premed 1 is a bit of a joke; just listen up, pay attention, do what you have to do to understand it n u'll be fine. premed 2 builds on some f it a LOT, so know physio & most of chem! med term... ummm... MD, medical doctor,
premed 2, put in the time & waste a lot of trees (paper)-write & rewrite.
premed 1 - take time to know the island, school, teachers, n ppl.
premed 2 - live in the library (or just read at home)!

don't worry!
just prepare to work hard (most of the time) - then again, won't u have to work hard as a doctor??
the living conditions are more of an issue than the work for some ppl, so make sure u can survive comfortably here.
happy body, happy mind - happy mind, happy MD!

aii
