Question for current & past MUA students doing clinical rotations?
Are there any MUA students who are currently doing their CORE rotations in greenbook hospitals, or have done so in the past? If so could you please list the hospital(s) that you are attending or have attended and the rotation(s) that you are doing or have done at those particular hospitals?
I’m asking this because of the fact that the list of clinical affiliations that I received from MUA, which lists MUA clinically affiliated hospitals in the US and the rotations that are available at these hospitals, none of the hospitals listed are greenbook for any CORE rotation that is available through the affiliation. |

Grn book rotation
Are you sure????
My husband is not in the clinical year yet. But he was told by the school green book core rotations are not a problem. Also I read from this forum, there is no green book hospital, it should be green book rotation like doing a surgery rotation in a hospital that has surgery residency. So it is hard to believe none of the hospital on your list offer green book rotations. I haven't seen the list myself, so I could be wrong. |

Re Grn book rotation
SKL I dont think you understood what I said.
The hospitals on the list do offer greenbook rotations, however the affiliation that MUA has with these hospitals is for rotations that are not greenbook. From the list I have: the following is an example of one of the hospitals and the rotation at that hospital which is affiliated with MUA Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, IL OB/GYN If you look up the greenbook rotations available at this hospital on the ACGME site you will find that only IM and Cardiovascular disease are greenbook rotations at this hospital, however MUA doesn't have an affiliation at this hospital for IM, they only have and affiliation for OB/GYN which is not a greenbook rotation at this hospital. I may be wrong in my understanding about how all of this works, if I am please correct me, but I'm quite sure that I'm not I've contacted MUA about this but am yet to receive a reply Look into it for yourself. Your husband probably recieved a similar list with the hospitals and the rotations at those hospitals. Look up those rotations (surgery, pediatrics..) with the ACGME and see if the hospital is greenbook for that particular rotation. This is what I did and I think I only found 1 or maybe 2 rotations that were greenbook on the list. Please Let us all know what you find out. thnx. |

Re Grn book rotation
Totally agree with your def'n of grn bk rotation, which is also my understanding too. To be honest, I haven't seen the list myself. I think the reply from the admin office will be the most accurate one. And hopefully, some students in their clinical year can provide info on this topic. We have some friends who are graduating from basic science this semester, we will know more details when they start their rotations, but that will be another few months after they pass the step I. I am not going to do any research at this point, since we are in the school now, not like we are choosing between schools. So far, we are happy with the basic science education. I think, when it comes the rotation time, we will just double check what rotation the school assigns us. If it's not grn book, we'll just wait or even arrange our own. For the time beings, we would just take the words of the school.

Michael Reese is greenbook
michael reese is greenbook for OBGYN through Univ of Illinois... UIC residents for OBGYN rotate through michael reese. So even though michael reese isnt the primary program listed in ACGME its still greenbook... its a little more complicated then just looking it up on acgme most of the time... if u have access to the actual greenbook thats the best way to look up programs...
----------------- http://www.obgyn.uic.edu/resiprog/resiprog.htm The University of Illinois at Chicago Residency Program takes place at three sites: the University of Illinois Hospital, Michael Reese Hospital, and Advocate Christ Medical Center. All of the faculty at the University of Illinois Hospital are full-time salaried individuals. The Michael Reese and Advocate Christ Hospital faculty include both full-time and voluntary staff. Voluntary staff are an integral part of the teaching program. Both affiliate institutions have a long history of resident involvement. |
