If anyone has any questions about core rotations in Ireland. I'd be happy to fill you in since I'm currently in the middle of them.

Experience in Houma,La

I have done all but 6 weeks of my clinical experience here in Houma, La. I will finish up my last core rotation of Surgery in about 3 weeks and continue to do almost all of my electives here at Chabert.

I can say very confidently that my experience here at Chabert Medical Center has met all my expectation and more. This is not to say that there were moments of frustration but, I believe that doing my clinicials here have provided me with hands on training that I just don't think you will find in many hospitals.

In addition, those of us at Chabert have had the enlightening experience of doing clinicals with some of the LSU 3rd and 4th year medical students since Hurricane Katrina went through southeast Louisiana. Let me just say that anyone who is ashamed of our basic science education at MUA needs to wake-up. MUA and SABA students have done the IMG's proud.

Good luck to you all.

That's the second good report....

I talked to a doc that's doing residency near my location when I was investigating MUA. They indicated their experience at La Houma was absolutely fantastic. They also indicated that they were able to perform certain procedures at Chabert that they weren't able to perform in their residency....sounds like La Houma is a really good experience....thanks for the updates....

Timd1313,

I would say to you and other MUA ambassadors down there, keep it up. And be of good cheer in view of the fact that more students are right behind you. That is the only way to attain decent name recognition for any school whose profile is not yet visible. I wish all of you the best of luck. And more grease to your elbows.

i have ot agree.. u get loads of hands on training at chabert.. being an intern now.. i was so surprised how little my US med students are actually allowed to do.. for most services they cannot even write notes in the chart let alone do procedures... and talking to the other interns that graduated from us schools... they have done no where close to as much ive had the chance to do.. our rotations at mua are great.. its not just chabert its everywhere else also... hands on is important.. makes ur life easier as an intern.. example last week i was just told to put in a few central lines, an a-line, 2 chest tubes and crash intubate someone ... all with no supervision of an upper level or an attending.. just on the spot and do it.. and i know had i not had the experience i had before as a student.. i woulda been struggling.. so be thankful we have the rotations we do...

ive worked with another intern from another foreign school (not big 3 or saba or mua) that ended up being kicked out of the residency program because he was totally incompetent.. didnt know how to write a soap note (unbelieveable...) and just could not function on a very basic level... so be thankful we are not in that boat...

Ob/gyn

So you have OB/GYN at Lincoln Hospital, Bronx.

Where else do you have OB/GYN?

I know of another program that needs some core OB/GYN.
