Thread: GPA and Residency

Hey I had a question for those who are residents or those who have been on interviews for residency spots. How important does your med school GPA factor in to getting a good residency? I've heard from people that its really just about your USMLE Scores and your letters of rec.

GPA is not that important because it's hard to standardize gpa's. An A at one school may be considered a B or C at another school based on the difficulty of the course/school. The only way to really tell is by a standard exam (such as the USMLE), because everyone more or less takes a similar exam. When I was chief resident in my residency, all we looked at were USMLE, Interview, Letters of Reccomendation, and their overall CV.
