Thread: Please advise - IM at Chabert or St Vincent's ?

I was almost 100% sure about Chabert in Houma, but I've been reading posts here and on the Saba Clinical Forum about St. Vincent's at Bridgeport. I'm torn between the two. I could potentially start at either roughly around the same time, so timing doesn't really make a difference, neither does the location. I'm looking for a good teaching atmosphere and where I'll be exposed to a large variety of cases.

I was hoping to get some advice from people who have chosen St Vincent's over Chabert and vice versa? How much hands on do you get? How many (if any) procedures can you perform? In hindsight would you have chosen differently?

I did all my clinicals at Chabert with the exception of Psychiatry and Family Medicine. You will not be disappointed. I do not know about this other place but Chabert is in my opinion one of the best places to train as a medical student and probably is better now they have a residency.

Trust me when I say that you got a great place. When I was told that I was going to Chabert I was a little upset as I had my heart set on JP in Chicago. All I can say Thank you, thank you, thank you. Dr. Ferguson is the best (hopefully he still does his stuff witht he med students), Dr. Arcemont (cardiology) awsome. I also had Dr. Gupta who is just the best.

I still hear these people today providing clinical guidance in side my head. This is my experience and milage may vary.
