Thread: clinical site question for those who've been there

I don't know if anyone can answer this question, but I am hoping to request a site where I can stay for the entire 2 years of rotations since I have a school aged child. With that in mind, I have been told my choices are Oklahama City, Houma, LA, or Chicago. If so, for those of you who have been there, which location would you pick, and why?

I for one like Oklahoma City. Most of the rotations are as challenging as you'd like, depending upon how much you want to do. ER let's you do a lot, so does surgery. OB does not let you do hardly anything. Psych is relatively low demand, but actually very good experience, just not the intensity and immersion I've heard of the NC location. IM is a bit boring, but the days are not bad. It is maybe more laid back, less demanding than some sights. Living in OKC itself is not bad. The state of OK offers nothing to me, but the hospital is nice and modern, and cost of living is relatively low. It's easy to find housing, and fairly good (not great) schools. Can tell you more, as we have small children. Just PM, or post.

Not being up on all of this or how to get the information, could you either direct me to the sites where I can read about it, or for short answer, if OKC is not all greenbook, is Houma or Chicago? Thanks.

I believe this will answer your question about greenbook, states, etc. Go to the below thread, try to avoid reading the fodder, go to 2nd to last post by Graig, he clearly explains the difference between green residencies, hospitals, and what it means to states, and how to research state details yourself.
