The main think you use in clinicals is your stethoscope. You may as well spend some decent money (Maybe 65$ US) on a decent one, not the best, and plan to have it for 5-10 years. Nothing more embarrasing for a student than to have a resident ask to borrow your steth. and they say "I can't hear very well in that". But go to a local medical store and try out different ones, the 120$ one sometiems sounds the same as the 50$ one.
As far as the scope set (Opthalmo, oto, rhinoscope), that's a tough call. You never use it in clinicals, they ALWAYS have them in teh hospital or clinic room. So if you feel comfortable borrowing one, go ahead.
You'll of course need a penlight for Neuro, Dr. D. is HUGE abotu that. And a reflex hammer, pins, cottton, the little stuff for neuro physical exam days. They're fun. He'll tell you exactly what you need.
Take care.
