Hi,
I would like to ask fellow students about their experience in JPH and chicago?
1. How was the clinical experience at JPH...quality of training, hours etc?
2. Where is JPH located ...is it a safe area....?
3. Can you find appartments near the hospital...do you need your own transportation.....approx rent for one bedroom appt?
4. Are there any good electives that can be taken at JPH?
Basically, any student who has done their clinicals at JPH. Please describe your experience in as much detail as possible.

1. Varies widely depending on which rotation you do and which attending you decide to work with. Can be demanding or not demanding at all.
2. Not in a safe area...do not live near the hospital. Have common sense and don't walk around alone at night.
3. Yes, there are apts right next to the hospital but JPH is not a good area to live in. Hyde Park is a good alternative as is the area behind Michael Reese Hospital where many high rise apts are avail. Hyde Park rents vary from $600-$1000 for a one bedroom (no parking included). The apts behind Michael reese I think are $650 for a studio with parking. It is easier to have your own transportation but there is a bus that stops right in front of the hospital. Trains are further away from the hospital and the area is not good to walk around.
4. Yes, some of the good electives there are ID, Neuro, ER, Geriatrics, Nephro
