Med2 requesting input, thanks
Hi,
If you have time...Can you input on how well advised and prepared you feel to suceed technically and relationally at yoru clinical sites? Who advised you, and do they give you just general global advice, or do they give you specific advice and sense of the personality of each clinical site? It seems a bit scarey, and some input would be most appreciated. I have tried to search this topic and could not find any thing. Thanks so much. |

We are pretty well-prepared for rotations; obviously you are not expected to do brain surgery (or anything else for that matter). But the biggest thing you can do to help yourself is read, read, read. After that, you can also rely on lectures/rounds etc to become more informed about what's going on. And hopefully, if you have a good attending/resident, you can ask them any questions you have.
Regarding choosing clinical websites, the best advice you can get is from fellow students who did the same rotation. They will tell u everything you need to know. |

Thanks So Much, One Further Question
THANKS FOR RESPONSES.
I realized in reading my question I needed to clarify: Do the MUA clinical advisors or "teachers" educate you on exactly what to expect and how to work and cooperate in the clinical rounds, or do you mostly have to educate yourself? Hyloran, I think I get your answer, but I just wanted to be sure. |

I'm pretty sure you can't; because as far as I know, we can only do IM core there. You can probably do all your electives there though. However, confirm this with the clinical office.

Harbor Hospital
Yes, you can do all of your electives here @ Harbor Hospital. As far as core rotation goes -- Hyloran is right -- we are only IM affiliated with them -- partly because Harbor hospital only has IM residency program. However, they do have pediatric, Ob/Gyn as well as surgery rotations here - but they are not residency programs.
